How’s the holidays been treating you guys??

It has been a blast for me! Just spent most of the time with family, and of course, eat, eat, and eat!

Holidays have always been family time for us; and for most of us in that case. Friends also come into picture, be they from college, high school, or even elementary. The holidays always bring people together to share laughter and good ‘ol company with each other.

Let me share with you how I spent the first part of the holidays.

As always, we spend Christmas Eve here at home, have our Noche Buena, exchange gifts, and of course picture taking with the rest of the family. There are extra guests for this year because my mom’s brother and his son are spending the holiday season here, so that makes it extra special for us. We spent Christmas day with the rest of the family in Pasay, like a mini family reunion, since not everyone was able to go there. But still it was great seeing the rest of the family, being together, eating together, and seeing the kids having fun.

Since my uncle and cousin are here, they decided that we go on a family outing last Dec.26-27. We went to Laguna, where it was really cold. The water in the pool was warm, but the wind was very cold. That didn’t stop us though from spending a lot of time in the water. There was videoke and more eating and picture taking sessions. We went straight to Manila Memorial since it was Nanay’s (our Lola) birthday last December 27. There’s more eating, storytelling, and laughter, just like how it’s always been with the family.

And now, we’re preparing for New Year’s celebration. We’ll be having our annual family reunion too on the 1st here at our place, so that’s pretty exciting. And I just realized that we actually have two family reunions; one during Christmas day, and one during New Year’s Day which is the official one. Our family just loves spending quality time with each other and eating together. (This is, by the way, our family on my mom’s side. We were supposed to have a family reunion too on my dad’s side but it’s not going to push thru anymore; probably next year.)

I always think it is great spending time with the whole family, especially when relatives from the States come home to celebrate with us. Seeing everyone having fun and just simply being with each other gives joy to everyone. It’s not that hard to do with our family, and I think that’s what makes our family one of a kind, and that’s what makes me love our family more. I have always been thankful for the kind of family that we have, and most of the credit goes to our great grandma and grandpa, and their sons and daughters, up to my mom’s and uncles’ and aunties’ generation. It is our job in return to continue the kind of upbringing we’ve seen them do, to let the next generations experience what we’ve experienced, and there is no doubt that we will most likely be applying them too; in the future, but with a bit of adjustments probably. It’s modern days! :P

Let’s all have an awesome New Year’s celebration guys! :)

    P.S.
The last few days of 2010 has been good to me, at least the majority of it, haha. Yesterday I had a very nice talk with a friend, today I saw a very pretty rainbow, and tomorrow I think I’ll be spending more time with the family, last hurrah before my uncle and cousin leaves on Sunday. 2011, please be good! :)
