I always find it exciting to shop for Christmas decors and think about what you're going to put up around the house for the holidays. I think that was two years ago when my brother and I went to Divisoria to buy a new Christmas tree and some new Christmas decors for the house. That was the first time that I bought the decors for the house myself since that was my first year at work as well. It is exciting to know too that you could buy what you could usually find at the mall for a cheaper price if you know where to look. ;)
We really didn't have any plans of buying Christmas decors for this year. I guess it just kind of came along. There's this place that we have been hearing so much of which has also been in the news every Christmas season, and we always say that we wanted to visit it, but we are always not able to. Until the time came that we now actually have a chance to go there and see for ourselves what's really in store.
It's this place in Dapitan cor. Kanlaon street, where you could find all kinds of Santa Claus displays. I guess as the years passed by, more and more people were coming, so vendors took advantage of it, and put up their own stores of different Christmas decors, making the place feel like a Divisoria of Christmas decors. There's this building which is kind of the main one called Dapitan Arcade, and there's also another one beside the Santa house which looks like a warehouse. Yes, the prices are, if not actually the same, almost the same as the ones you could find in Divisoria. But it's not as super crowded or magulo as what you would usually see in Divisoria, which I really liked. And it's kind of safer too. =))
Check out the items that we bought. I posted the prices too. =D
We mainly wanted to see the "Santa house" where I guess that was where it all started. I think the owner has her Santa displays all year round, so you could actually buy from there even if it's not Christmas season. And it indeed is a Santa house, along Dapitan street, where you would see all kinds of Santa Clauses in every corner of the house. It was so hard to choose which Santa to buy, but eventually Mom and I decided to buy an 8-piece Santa musicians set, and I bought a small Santa figurine. All for 700 pesos. =D
We didn't buy these at the actual house, but at the other shops beside it. But I think they're just all the same. =))
Then we went around the other stores and looked for whatever Christmas decors we needed. There's a lot to choose from, so it's helpful that you already know which particular items you are looking for if you don't want to get too tired from walking around. And if you're not in much of a hurry, it is indeed good to check out prices from different stores because some differ. But nevertheless, they're all affordable.
Mom wanted to create a centerpiece so we bought these poinsettias at around 80-85php for 7 pieces. (There was one selling it for 100php for 7 pcs.)
We also bought a different kind of poinsettia which would probably be used for the Christmas tree. 10 pcs. for 150 pesos.
We also found these small ornaments to put together with the poinsettias. Some were at 3 for 100, others were at 40 pesos per piece (the bigger ones). We got this lot for 200 pesos.
These glittered leaves were sold at 50pesos per pack. Each pack contains 6 pcs. of leaves.
We also found some table napkins for Christmas dinner, which were at 3 for 100. Then this ribbon was at 150pesos. The vendor said that it fits a 5-feet Christmas tree, which we have yet to see. =))
I also bought some additional new Christmas balls for the Christmas tree. We got them for 100 per pack. And mom bought a basket for the centerpiece she was going to make, which she got for 30pesos.
All in all, I think we spent 1,600 for all these Christmas decors. Not bad since we really got some nice ones, and we even have a Santa set and a small Santa figurine. We're excited to decorate! And we're definitely going back to that place for more decors. They also have other items which you could give as Christmas gifts. It's less stressful to shop compared to Divi. =))
One more thing to share before I end this post.
I wish I had my mom's "tawad" skills. Sometimes I think it's a bit too much, but she's so good at it! I should always bring her with me when going to places like this. =))
And this star was the last item I bought for the Christmas tree. They didn't have this anymore at MOA, so I tried my luck at SM Harrison, and luckily they have it! A capiz star tree topper. :)
Christmas decor shopping is so much easier than Christmas gift shopping. =)) Check it out for yourselves. Happy shopping and decorating! :)
