1. Two for the Price of Five

    Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I got these shoes for 5 PESOS. Yes, you read it right, Php 5.00.

But of course I didn't really actually "buy" them. They're not from an actual ukay-ukay.

Those were given to me by one of our cousins. We went to their place in Bulacan last Sunday for their dad's birthday celebration. Their dad isn't actually here but they prepared some food to be able to celebrate his birthday, and they invited us over. It was just a simple celebration, plus a karaoke night, and there, an "ukay" night for me too. And DVD night too, we borrowed a lot of DVDs from them to be returned on November 1. We're at 3 out of 7 DVDs; so far so good.

Going back to the shoes, my cousin actually gave them to me because she said it doesn't fit her. When she bought it the shoes were okay, but when she tried to walk in it, it was too tight for her. So since we were there, she made me try them, and they fit! Congratulations to me, I have two new instant flats!

They are both unused, and they are both mine. Luckily too I didn't buy the flats I almost bought last Friday.

I did pay 5 pesos for those shoes though. It's a pamahiin or an elderly saying (or something) I think where you have to pay or at least give something in terms of money to the one who's giving you shoes. I remember one time where an aunt of mine was giving me some shoes, (or were those slippers?) and they made me give her 1 peso, just because. I really don't get it though, but my mom always does that, and so she made me do it too, so I gave 5 pesos to my cousin. Usually it's just 1 peso, but since there are two shoes involved, it has to be of bigger amount. And hello, Cardam's? Bless my cousin, really, she's the best.

So, I got two new flats for 5 pesos. Surprise, surprise!
