think rainbows

July 3, 2011 was the much awaited home game of the Azkals against Sri Lanka for the first leg of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. This was a huge event in every sense, and I was lucky enough to secure a ticket for this match. Thanks to my good friend Aja, everyone was asking me, "you watched?! how did you get a ticket?!" LOL.

It was an awesome match, and I'm sure everyone who got wet (umbrellas were prohibited) didn't mind much after that 4-0 win by the Azkals. It was all worth it. I was hoping to see some celebrities, but what the hell, I got to see the Azkals. =D Although I'd still consider basketball and volleyball as more exciting, football just has its own fervour. It's nerve wracking to wait for goals, and once you get them, everyone just goes wild. I really did enjoy that match, and I'd love to watch again.

Chieffy's first goal was crazy, Phil's goals were awesome, and Angel Guirado was just super impressive. Neil Etheridge was just as great. Super lakas niyang sumipa, I love it. Hahaha. Everyone was so elated; I mean c'mon, you get to play in front of thousands of Pinoys where I don't think even a single Sri Lankan was in attendance. It was a super fun and proud day for Philippine sports, and for sure the next home game of the Azkals will be just as celebrated. Although Kuwait is a much tougher opponent, I don't think the Filipinos' support for the Azkals will be greatly affected.

I am not sure how it works but I hope the Azkals still get a win against Kuwait, or maybe even just a draw. They got to beat Vietnam, defending champions, why can't they do it against Kuwait, right? :) Ticket selling for the Azkals vs. Kuwait match here in the Philippines will be held on a Saturday. I wonder if people will camp out just for those tickets. We'll see. And hopefully we'd still get to score some tickets. =D

I'm surprised may "theme song" na pala ang Azkals. Hahaha. At nuon ko pa sinasabing gusto kong maligo sa ulan, I got my wish. Hahaha!
