1. Red Horse Muziklaban

    Sunday, January 30, 2011

Red Horse Beer's Muziklaban was held last January 22, 2011 at the open field along Roxas Blvd. corner EDSA ext. just across Toyota Manila Bay. This event which features amateur rock bands is held yearly and also involves a lot of activities for one whole day. This year's Muziklaban included tattoo competitions/exhibitions, deck art (skateboard) competition, indie film making competition, and of course the main event where the grand champion will be determined. The Muziklaban this year was also a tribute to a Pinoy Icon, the King of Pinoy Rap, Francis M.

I don't usually go to these kind of events because it's a bit too much rock for me, and the crowd is not really my type of crowd. When our uncle asked if we wanted to go though, Kuya and I immediately said yes even if the passes weren't sure yet. Because I knew that we would be getting good passes, just like last time when we went to the 2009 NU Rock Awards. The last time my uncle went to the Muziklaban event, they got VIP passes, so we were thinking what passes we would get since the entrance for this year is free.

And this is how we got in...

Media Passes! So we got to stay at the backstage, and it was super cool! For one night, we got to "mingle" with the artists there, seeing them just walking past us. We arrived at the venue around 8pm, but the show started at 6:30pm. We didn't want to go there too early since we assumed that the big artists are to perform later in the night. Brownman Revival was performing when we arrived but we didn't see them. When we actually entered the venue, Jericho Rosales was performing, so he was the first artist we saw.

Then it was Kjwan's performance! Good thing we were just in time for their performance!

Marc Abaya was amazing! Kjwan really rocked that night! Then I think the next performance was by Greyhoundz...

Salamin which had Paolo Valenciano as the lead vocals was pretty good too! Both Kuya and I enjoyed them
    .

Then they were joined by Elmo Magalona. Elmo's really improving!

And of course, I wouldn't miss the chance of having my picture taken with Elmo, and Saab! :D

Arnel Pineda was there too! but not with Journey..then I was able to take my picture with him, right at the stage, right before they performed, haha! Thanks, Uncle Ojie! :))

And Manny Pacquiao too! This is the first time I've seen him in person. What a very fit bod! :)) Elmo performed with him too!

And Gary Granada performed some songs as well...

But this really brought the house down! Legends of OPM rock, Juan dela Cruz band!

They're still super good! Rock on Pepe Smith! Too bad we weren't able to take our picture with him.

Oh, and these were the events hosts. Kuya was even able to have a little chat with Rico Robles. :))

It was a pretty fun event! Well, at least for us because we were enjoying ourselves backstage. We didn't actually finish the whole program, we went home after the Juan dela Cruz band played.

Things are still pretty positive with OPM rock. We just have to learn to appreciate new music from upcoming bands. I was a bit disappointed when people weren't responding to new bands with new songs, but it's all good. Of course people want to hear songs that they really know. At least it looked like everyone still enjoyed and all performers rocked!

Congratulations to the winner, Light of Luna!
